Shah Rukh Khan Practised Scene 12 Times with Rajpal Yadav in Kal Ho Naa Ho: ‘As A Beginner…’

Shah Rukh Khan’s reputation as a phenomenal co-actor precedes him, with countless collaborators singing his praises. Rajpal Yadav, who shared the screen with Khan in the 2003 film “Kal Ho Naa Ho,” vividly recounted Khan’s dedication and support.

Yadav, fondly reminiscing about his role as Guru in the film, shared with Mashable India how Khan tirelessly rehearsed with him, even for a short scene, dedicating almost 12 takes to perfecting it. This anecdote exemplifies Khan’s commitment to his craft and his genuine care for his fellow actors.

He recalled, “Shah Rukh Khan was a superstar and I was a beginner. It was my first introduction to him as an actor. If I did 12 rehearsals for that one scene, he responded in all 12 as if he is a beginner. It didn’t feel like he was a superstar. Our tuning was very good in that scene.”

As a co-star of Shah Rukh, Yadav noticed the actor’s deep passion for his craft. “He had that passion in him to do something great.” After Kal Ho Naa Ho, Rajpal Yadav worked with SRK in films like Billu, Bhoothnath and Paheli. The actor feels Shah Rukh is yet to deliver his best performance. He said, “His films are doing so well but I still feel his best performance is yet to come because he considers his profession his passion,” the actor recalled.

Rajpal Yadav has gained immense popularity with his comic roles and has delivered some memorable performances in films like Bhagam Bhag, Hungama, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, De Dana Dan and Khatta Meetha, among many others. Interestingly, his next film Apurva will see him playing a menacing character who abducts a young girl ahead of her wedding.
