Bollywood in the Spotlight: Investigating Links to Betting App

The Mumbai police recently arrested actor Sahil Khan for his suspected involvement with the Mahadev betting app. This case has taken a turn as his bail request was denied, and the investigation is now looking into connections with several Bollywood celebrities.

Khan, known for promoting “The Lion Book” brand under a company called Isports247, claims he was only involved in advertising and had nothing to do with the actual betting operations. However, his arrest raises questions about possible links between Bollywood and betting platforms.

Here’s a closer look at other Bollywood actors being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for their connections to the Mahadev Betting Scam:

Ranbir Kapoor: Back in October 2023, the ED called upon actor Ranbir Kapoor to help them understand the complexities of the Mahadev betting case. This was part of a larger effort to unravel the entire situation.

Tamannaah Bhatia: The Maharashtra cyber cell recently questioned actress Tamannaah Bhatia about her role in promoting the viewing of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches through an app called Fairplay. This app is connected to the Mahadev online gambling and betting platform.

Huma Qureshi & Hina Khan: Actresses Huma Qureshi and Hina Khan were also questioned by the authorities about their work promoting a particular app. The investigation is looking into how much they were paid for these promotions and whether this money could be linked to illegal activities.

Kapil Sharma: In October 2023, comedian and actor Kapil Sharma was summoned by the investigation agency because he attended an event organized by Saurabh Chandrakar, the founder of the Mahadev app.

Shraddha Kapoor: Actress Shraddha Kapoor was also called upon by the ED in October 2023 to help with the investigation surrounding the Mahadev app case. They wanted to understand her connections to the case, if any.

This situation highlights the growing concern about potential links between Bollywood and illegal betting activities. The investigations are ongoing, and it remains to be seen if any concrete proof will be found against these celebrities.
