Salaar Producer Clarifies ‘A’ Rating for Prabhas’ Film: ‘There Is No Vulgarity’
December 14, 2023“Salaar Part 1 – Ceasefire,” starring Prabhas as a tough hero, is one of the biggest movies coming out this year. Everyone’s really excited about it! Recently, the movie got an “A” rating from the Indian movie censor board, which means it’s not for kids. Vijay Kiragandur, from the company making the movie, talked about why it got this rating in an interview.”
In an interview with India Today, the producer Vijay Kiragandur was asked if he was satisfied with an ‘A’ certificate. He said, “We obviously wanted an ‘U/A’ because we want the family audience to come and watch the film. At the same time, we are now okay with an ‘A’ certificate. The rules have changed for the censor board and when they explained the reason behind it, we came to terms with it.” He added, “It happened with ‘Animal’ as well. We met the censor officers, and they explained to us the new rules.”
He further said, “They suggested a few cuts to get ‘U/A’, but director Prashanth decided against the cuts because those were the scenes which would add to the character building of a violent man. Those scenes are important.”
Vijay also shared that the film has not received an ‘A’ certificate due to any vulgarity. “The action sequences are so intense, so we did not want to disturb the flow. We got an ‘A’ certificate only because of that. There is no vulgarity or anything in the film,” he stated.

It features Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles, along with a stellar cast including Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Bobby Simha, Tinnu Anand, Easwari Rao, Sriya Reddy, and Ramachandra Raju. It is set to release on December 22, 2023.
