Shaitaan: R Madhavan reveals his wife wanted him to ‘stay away from her’ after watching the film’s teaser
February 23, 2024Remember the sweet guy from “Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein”? The one who melted hearts with his cute looks and charm? Well, get ready to see him in a whole new light! He’s trading his romantic roles for something much darker – he’s playing the villain, Shaitaan, in a spooky thriller alongside Ajay Devgn and Jyothika.
The trailer for the movie just dropped, and it shows off Madhavan’s creepy new character. He’s gone from chocolate boy to bad boy, and it looks intense! But guess what? Even his own wife is scared of him after seeing the trailer! At the launch event, Madhavan joked that she told him to stay away from her.
People are surprised by this dramatic change. They’re used to seeing him as the good guy, the hero. But Madhavan says he was just as surprised when the filmmakers decided to take the horror elements to such a high level. He never expected things to get so dark!
Here’s what else we learned at the trailer launch:
- Madhavan had some challenges playing this role, especially considering his wife’s reaction. He had to really get into the dark side of things, which wasn’t easy.
- But he also enjoyed working with such a talented team. He said it was a comfortable and fun experience, despite the creepy subject matter.
- The trailer has everyone excited for the movie. It looks like it’s going to be a thrilling ride with plenty of scares.
“Jab maine tay kiya ki main yeh film karne wala hoon, mujhe bilkul pata nahi tha ki hum kis level tak jaane wale hain ya kis level tak logon ko darane ki koshin kar rahein hai (When I had decided on doing the film, I never expected the level we were going towards, nor did I expect to what level we were planning to scare audiences)”.
He went on to continue about how he never expected to play such a role, “Mujhe bilkul yakeen nahin tha ki main apne aap ko iss level tak push kar paonga, naahi aisa laga ki main kuch aisa kar paonga ki log mujhe wakayi mein dekh ke darr jayenge (I couldn’t believe that I could push myself to this level, neither did I expect to do something which will scare people from approaching me even in real life)”.
During the same interaction, he revealed that even his wife is afraid of him. “Mujhe acchi tarah yaad hai jab maine yeh trailer aur picture meri biwi ko dikhayi, toh woh mujhe alag hi nazar se dekhne lagi. Aaj woh bolti hai ki thoda door se hi dekhke baat kiya karo. Mujhe lagta hai ki thodi bahut pareshaani hone wali hai mujhe iss film ke baad (I clearly remember that when I showed this trailer and picture to my wife, she started looking at me in a different way altogether. Today, she told me that I maintain my distance while speaking to her. So, I think, this film has impacted my personal life to a certain level)”, he jokingly added.
Apart from this, R Madhavan was also all praises for Ajay Devgn and the rest of the team. “Pehli baar main Ajay Devgn Sir ke saath kaam kar raha hoon (I working with Ajay Sir for the first time) and I can’t tell you what an amazing phase it has been,” he shared.
