It’s indeed heartening to see Bobby Deol receive such widespread acclaim for his role in Animal. His portrayal of the antagonist, Abrar Haque, has garnered praise for its intensity, depth, and nuanced portrayal. Deol’s dedication to the character, evident in his physical transformation and meticulous preparation, has undoubtedly contributed to the resounding success of the film. This marks a significant comeback for Deol, re-establishing his position as a versatile and talented actor.

In a recent interview with PTI, Deol opened up about his character, saying that he approached the role from a non-judgmental space. “There’s good and evil in every human being and what gets the evil out of you is some situation,” he said. “As an actor, you think as a character. ‘I’m doing nothing wrong, I’m right in whatever I do’. You forget how to judge what is right and wrong.”

Limited screen time didn’t matter to Deol

Though Deol’s character has limited screen time, it has left a lasting impact on audiences. The actor, however, says that he wasn’t concerned about the length of the role.

“It’s not the length of the role, it is the kind of the character which has so much substance,” he said. “I wish I had more scenes but when I signed the film, I knew this is what I had. At that point in my life, I was grateful to God that I was given this chance to play this role by Sandeep. I knew I had only 15 days of work and wouldn’t be there throughout the film. I was sure people would notice me, but I never realised that there will be so much love, appreciation and affection. It’s like wow! It’s amazing.”

Deol also believes that there is potential for a spin-off on his Animal character. “People have loved the character so much that there should be a spin-off,” he added. “It is so encouraging that people appreciate your work, and they want to see more of you, playing that character. It feels good.”

Talking about the film, besides Deol, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor in the lead along with Rashmika Mandanna and Anil Kapoor. Meanwhile, Shakti Kapoor and Triptii Dimri are also seen playing pivotal characters. The film was released on December 1 clashing with Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur.
