Priyanka Chopra opens up on her Hindu, Christian, Islamic upbringing in an interview with Oprah Winfrey; WATCH
December 3, 2021 0 By adminGlobal star Priyanka Chopra, in her conversation with famous Oprah Winfrey in her talk show Super Soul opened up about writing a memoir at the age of 38. The episode featuring Priyanka which is yet to be released but in a promo shared on YouTube offers a sneak peek of the interview. Asked by Oprah if the pandemic-induced lockdown helped her finally sit down and write a memoir, Priyanka said, âI had committed to writing the book in 2018 and between all those flights and little time that I would get in all those hotel rooms that I lived, I could just never write. But I had this time because of COVID and that helped me really delve deep.â
Priyanka Chopraâs recently released memoir, titled Unfinished, is already a New York Timesâ bestseller and also got a warm feedback from the readers. She also adds,ââI have a little bit more confidence in myself. What I bring to the table professionally, personally⊠so that really helped me address my life. And I always wanted to write a book and I thought the easiest way to do it is to write about my life. It wasnât,â during the conversation Oprah also asked PC about Indiaâs âspiritual energyâ and asked if she had a âspiritual foundationâ.
Responding to her, Priyanka said, âI think I did. In India, it is hard not to. Youâre right. With the swirling number of religions that we have, that live within the country as well. I grew up in a convent school. I was aware of Christianity. My dad used to sing in a mosque, I was aware of Islam. I grew up in a Hindu family, I was aware of that. Spirituality is such a large part of India that you really cannot ignore it.â
Priyanka also shared her father late Dr Ashok Chopraâs role in it. As he always taught her that all religions are ways to the same God. âI am a Hindu. I pray, I have a temple at my home, I do it as often as I can. But truly to me, I am a believer that a higher power does exist and I like to have faith in that,â she said. The interview is scheduled to air on Discovery+ on March 24.
