Samantha Ruth Prabhu Reveals Feeling ‘Uncomfortable’ During Oo Antava Shoot, Says ‘Sexy Is Not My Thing…’

Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s hit number ‘Oo Antava’ is undoubtedly one of her best performances till date. The actor garnered immense praise from fans as well as critics for her item song in the film. However, in a recent interview, she revealed that she was ‘uncomfortable’ during the shoot of the hit item number. Samantha said she was ‘shaking from fear’ because ‘sexy’ was not her thing.

In a conversation during India Today Conclave, Samantha said, “I have always operated from a space of ‘I’m not good enough, I don’t feel pretty, I don’t look like the other girls.’ So for me, it was a huge challenge. It was actually the first shot of “Oo Antava”… I was shaking from fear because sexy is not my thing. It’s not my thing. But how I’ve grown both as an actor and as a person is I’ve always made sure that I put myself in the most uncomfortable, unforgiving, very difficult circumstances.”

“I think that, for me, it was the lyrics. It was a challenge. And I think we can move past judging women for wanting to look good. We can do everything. We can look good,” she further noted.

When questioned about the possibility of performing another dance routine in the future, Samantha emphatically stated her reluctance, expressing a firm stance against the idea. “Absolutely not,” she declared. “I fail to discern any allure or excitement in it anymore,” she elaborated, emphasizing her disinterest in revisiting that particular endeavor. Earlier, Samantha also revealed that she was forced to go public about Myositis. She said in the same interview, “I was forced to go public about my disorder. At that time, I had my female-centric film due for release. I was very sick back then. It was hard and I wasn’t ready. There were all sorts of speculation going around and misinformation being spread. The producers needed me to promote it, otherwise, it (the film) would just die.”

For the unversed, Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been vocal about her medical health issues since the beginning. The actor was diagnosed with Myositis in 2022, which made fans concerned about her.
