Ramayana Movie News: Rakul Preet Singh Might Play Shurpanakha!

Popular filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari is busy getting his grand movie project, Ramayana, ready for filming. This will be his first ever movie based on Hindu mythology, and it has a star-studded cast! Ranbir Kapoor is playing Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi is portraying Sita, and there are rumors that Rakul Preet Singh might join them as Shurpanakha.

Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpanakha?

According to reports, Tiwari has been talking to Singh about playing the important role of Shurpanakha. As a source revealed, “Rakul and Nitesh have been discussing for a while, and the casting for Shurpanakha is almost finalized. It’s a crucial character, as Shurpanakha triggers the conflict between Lord Ram and Raavan.”

Singh is apparently very excited to be a part of this epic story and sees it as a unique opportunity. She has reportedly even done some costume tests for the role. If everything works out, this could be her first movie after getting married to producer Jackky Bhagnani.

The Rest of the Cast

Bollywood Hungama also confirmed that the main cast for Ramayana is set. Ranbir Kapoor is Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi is Sita, Sunny Deol is Hanuman, and Yash will be the mighty Raavan. Preparations are underway, and filming is expected to start in March 2024.

There are also reports that Lara Dutta might play Kaikeyi, one of King Dasharatha’s wives, and that Vijay Sethupathi is being considered for the role of Vibhishana, Raavan’s brother.

Release Date and More

Ramayana: Part One is expected to hit theaters during the Diwali weekend in 2025. The shooting will wrap up by July 2024, followed by a year of post-production work.
