Jai Mehta, the director, shared his vision for the series: “We wanted to make a hijacking story unlike any other. As a filmmaker, I know our stories can shape people’s views. We wanted to show the situation from different angles, not just the victims’ perspective, but also the pirates and the people of Somalia. This is my second collaboration with my father, Hansal, and I believe ‘Lootere’ will be just as captivating as ‘Scam 1992.'”

Hansal Mehta, the showrunner, added his thoughts: “There have been many stories about hijackings on airplanes, but ‘Lootere’ is different. It takes place on the vast ocean, near an unfamiliar country, with a large ship and scary pirates. The story explores power, greed, and the international crisis that unfolds following the hijacking. The crew’s fight for survival takes viewers on an emotional and thrilling journey. Working with my son as an independent director and collaborating with Disney+ Hotstar for the first time has been a fantastic experience.”

The series stars Rajat Kapoor, Vivek Gomber, Amruta Khanvilkar, and Aamir Ali. Get ready to set sail on an adventure with “Lootere” on Disney+ Hotstar starting March 22nd!
