Maharashtra Government Forms SIT to Readdress Disha Salian’s Death

Responding to ongoing demands and persistent allegations, the Maharashtra government has officially established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to delve deeper into the tragic death of Disha Salian, former manager of the late Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput.

While the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) previously concluded Salian’s death an accidental fall due to alcohol intoxication, the government seeks further clarity amidst renewed concerns. The newly formed SIT, headed by the Mumbai Police Commissioner, will conduct a comprehensive investigation, revisiting existing evidence and exploring emerging leads.

This decision follows a commitment made last year during the winter session of the Maharashtra assembly. With mounting pressure from political adversaries, particularly the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the government felt compelled to act upon lingering doubts surrounding Salian’s demise. Notably, BJP leaders have levied unproven accusations against Shiv Sena UBT leader Aaditya Thackeray, prompting further investigation.

Although the Mumbai Police and subsequently the CBI have previously investigated the case, the government deems a deeper examination necessary in light of persistent allegations. This renewed effort aims to definitively address any unanswered questions and offer clarity to the public.

Responding to the SIT’s formation, Thackeray dismissed it as a political ploy by the BJP. He denounced the tactic of fabricating charges and allegations against opposition leaders to tarnish their image.

With the SIT now officially in place, the hope is to finally shed light on the circumstances surrounding Salian’s death and provide closure to all parties involved.
