The movie “Maidaan” has had a long journey to the big screen. There were several setbacks along the way, but it’s finally ready for its premiere!
Maidaan tells the true story of Syed Abdul Rahim, a legendary football coach who made a huge difference in Indian football. His coaching skills were so amazing that the Indian team became known as the “Brazil of Asia” because of their incredible playing style.
Release Date and Delays
Get ready to cheer for the team! Maidaan will be in theaters starting April 11th, 2024. Actor Ajay Devgn himself announced this on his social media. There will even be special early screenings starting at 6 pm on April 10th, the day before. The full release will happen on Eid, a big holiday in India.
Filming for Maidaan started in August 2019, but it wasn’t easy. The movie faced many delays. There was a global pandemic (COVID-19) that shut down a lot of things, and a big storm (Cyclone Nisarga) that caused problems too. Filming finally finished in May 2022.
Originally, the movie was supposed to come out in June 2022, but it needed more work to be done after filming. Then the release got pushed back again to June 2023. But there were still more things to take care of, so here we are, finally ready for the premiere in April 2024!
Music and More
The music for Maidaan is by the famous composer A. R. Rahman, and the lyrics were written by Manoj Muntashir. The first song, “Mirza,” came out in March 2024 and gave everyone a taste of the movie’s music. There’s also a second song called “Team India Hain Hum” that came out a little later, adding to the excitement.
There are rumors that after the movie is in theaters, you’ll also be able to watch it online on Amazon Prime Video. But there’s no official confirmation yet, so we’ll have to wait and see!
