Fardeen Khan Returns to Bollywood After 14 Years in Bhansali’s Grand Web Series ‘Heeramandi’

Actor Fardeen Khan is making a big comeback to Bollywood after a long break of 14 years! He’s landed a role in the highly anticipated web series called “Heeramandi,” directed by the famous filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Fans are excited for this show because of its stunning visuals, interesting story, and impressive cast.

In a recent interview, Fardeen shared how he got the role in “Heeramandi.” He explained that someone who works closely with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Shruti Mahajan, spotted him at an award ceremony. She thought Fardeen might be a good fit for a character named Wali in the show. After Fardeen returned from a trip, Shruti contacted him and arranged a meeting with Bhansali and his team. Since Fardeen had been away from acting for so long, they just wanted to see if he could play the part well.

Fardeen went for a look test, but Bhansali wasn’t there in person. They sent pictures of him to the director, and then Fardeen got a call with some exciting news! Bhansali told him, “Congratulations, you’re Wali Mohammad!” Fardeen was thrilled but also a little nervous because it had been a long time since he’d been on a movie set.

“Heeramandi” boasts a star-studded cast with actresses like Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sharmin Segal playing the lead roles.

Speaking of Bhansali, he previously discussed his debut project on a streaming platform (OTT) in another interview. He said that while he’s known for making big movies, “Heeramandi” is even bigger – his most ambitious project yet. He doesn’t feel the need to change his style for the digital platform; he believes viewers will feel like they’re watching a movie, not a series.

Bhansali talked about the dedication required for this project. He said there’s “no holding back” and that working on the script is very demanding. It involves more time spent watching films than actually filming them. Despite the challenges, everyone involved is enjoying the process. “Heeramandi” is especially close to Bhansali’s heart, and he shared that the idea for the story came from his collaborator Moin Baig 14 years ago.

Fardeen’s return to acting isn’t the only exciting news from Bhansali. The director also has another project in the works – an epic saga titled “Love & War” starring Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal.
