Director Nag Ashwin spilled some exciting beans about his upcoming sci-fi movie, “Kalki 2898 AD,” starring Prabhas! He spoke at an event at IIT Bombay, and even gave fans a call, which they loved!

Here’s the cool stuff he revealed:

  • “Kalki” won’t be like Star Wars. It’ll have its own unique story and world.
  • The trailer is coming out on April 1, 2024! Mark your calendars!
  • We still don’t know much about the plot, but that just makes it more exciting, right?

So, get ready for a sci-fi adventure unlike any other when “Kalki 2898 AD” hits theaters in 2024!

Addressing a comparison to Star Wars, a student posed the question, “Will the film be India’s Star Wars? Are you planning to build an entire universe around it?” Nag Ashwin firmly asserted, “I don’t think so…this will be India’s K. It’s India’s Project K, India’s Kalki. It’s one film, and I think that’s enough.” Despite ruling out a franchise, he did encourage fan theories about a potential sequel.

The discussion also delved into the film’s weaponry, a topic of much conversation after the release of the teaser. Nag Ashwin highlighted the challenges faced by the team in crafting unique weapons without a reference point. “We did not have a reference point, so it was all about trial and error for us when it came to all the props,” he explained. Emphasizing their commitment to originality, he shared, “We built the weapons from scratch instead of renting an available gun prop, slapping on two lights and calling it a laser gun.”

Moreover, the director disclosed a surprising connection between the sci-fi film and mythology. Explaining the choice of the name ‘Kalki’, Nag Ashwin revealed, “Kalki is the final avatar of Vishnu. Despite being set in the future, the film has a connection to the past that will be revealed in the film.”

Despite being a sci-fi extravaganza, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is set to explore a profound connection to mythology, promising a unique cinematic experience. The film boasts an ensemble cast, including Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani. With shooting in progress, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is slated to hit screens next year.
