Originally planned for a Diwali release in 2023, some last-minute special effects touch-ups pushed it back to January 12th, 2024, right in time for the Pongal celebrations. Critics loved it, and audiences too – it raked in over 96 crore rupees (that’s about $12 million!) at the box office, making it the second-highest grossing Tamil movie of 2024 so far!

The Tamil version of the movie hit Sun NXT for streaming after its theatrical run, but fans of the Telugu version have been waiting to hear when they can watch it at home. Well, wait no more!

What is Ayalaan About?

Ayalaan, which means “Alien” in English, is a science fiction movie completely in Tamil. It was written and directed by R. Ravikumar and produced by Kotapadi J. Rajesh under his KJR Studios banner.

The movie stars Sivakarthikeyan and Rakul Preet Singh as the lead actors, with a bunch of other talented folks helping out the story: Sharad Kelkar, Isha Koppikar, Karunakaran, Yogi Babu, David Broughton-Davies, Bhanupriya, and Bala Saravanan. Oh, and Siddharth even does some voice acting in the film!

The story follows a regular guy who teams up with a visitor from another planet (the alien!) to stop a mad scientist from creating a super dangerous gas called Nova gas. This gas is so bad, it could destroy the entire Earth! Can our hero and his alien buddy save the day? You’ll have to watch the movie to find out!
