Shalini Pandey Opens Up About Challenging Scene in “Maharaj”

Shalini Pandey, whose recent movie “Maharaj” has been getting good reviews, talked about a difficult scene in the film. The scene involves her character Kishori being tricked into a sexual encounter with a religious leader, played by Jaideep Ahlawat. Shalini said that filming the scene made her anxious, even though she didn’t realize it at first.

At first, when Shalini read the script, she didn’t understand why Kishori made certain decisions. She thought Kishori was silly. But then, she learned more about Kishori’s background. Shalini realized that Kishori had been taught to believe that everything she did to serve the religious leader was okay.

In an interview, Shalini said, “When I filmed the scene with the religious leader, I didn’t know how much it had affected me. After the scene, I told my team that I didn’t want to be in a small room. I needed fresh air because I was feeling anxious.”

Shalini said that both the director and her co-star understood how difficult the scene was to film.

She described Kishori as innocent and kind-hearted. While reading the script, Shalini thought Kishori’s choices were bad. But later, she understood that Kishori wasn’t stupid. Kishori had just been raised to completely trust the religious leader.

Shalini said that playing this role with such strong emotions was tough. It helped her realize how vulnerable Kishori was. Shalini hopes that Kishori eventually understood what was really happening to her.
