Kanguva Makes a Big Deal on Streaming!
The rights for watching Kanguva online (called OTT rights) have been sold to Amazon Prime Video for a whopping sum! Studio Green’s producer, Gnanavelraja, confirmed this news. He revealed that the digital rights for the South Indian languages only were sold for a massive Rs 80 crore (approximately $10 million).
A Record-Breaking Deal!
In an interview, Gnanavelraja stated, “Let me just say this myself. All the news will come out slowly. But for now, we’ve finalized the deal with Amazon for the digital rights. And it’s not for all languages – just the South Indian languages. This deal is worth Rs 80 crore, which is a record for the South Indian film industry. No other film has fetched such a high price for digital rights. So, I’ll leave it to you to imagine how well the movie will do overall.”
Addressing the Rumors
Some people have compared Kanguva to a popular action-adventure video game called “Ghost of Tsushima”. Gnanavelraja addressed these comparisons, clarifying that “The film is a completely original story created by director Siva based on some events that happened in the 16th century. It’s not inspired by anything else.”
