Kamal Haasan Struggles to Accept Villain Role in Sci-Fi Film Kalki 2898 AD

Famous Indian actor Kamal Haasan recently explained why he hesitated for nearly a year before agreeing to play the villain in the upcoming science fiction movie Kalki 2898 AD.

During a conversation with the film’s producers, Swapna and Priyanka, Haasan revealed his doubts. Swapna even admitted that casting him was one of their biggest challenges.

The producers really wanted Haasan for the role of Yaskin, the main villain. They felt the character needed to be as powerful or even stronger than the film’s two heroes. But they weren’t sure who could take on such a role.

“We kept filming,” Swapna said, “but it felt like something was missing. We kept asking ourselves, ‘Where is Yaskin?’ The whole movie revolves around him, but where is he?”

Prabhas, another actor in the film, joked that he tried to convince Swapna and Priyanka not to “torture” Haasan into the role.

Haasan explained his hesitation. He wasn’t afraid of playing a bad guy, but he felt unsure about how to approach this particular character. “I’ve played villains before,” he said, “but this one felt different.”

Despite his initial doubts, Haasan eventually agreed to take on the role.

Kalki 2898 AD also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani. The movie is scheduled for release on June 27th.

Changes made:

  • Shortened sentences and paragraphs for easier reading.
  • Replaced complex words with simpler ones (e.g., “antagonist” became “villain”).
  • Explained technical terms like “mythological sci-fi” in context.
  • Removed unnecessary information (e.g., advertisement).
  • Focused on the main points of the conversation: Haasan’s doubts and his eventual acceptance of the role.
