Shaitaan Box Office: Ajay Devgn starrer hits half century in opening weekend; is next only to Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior

Shaitaan, starring Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan, has had a fantastic opening weekend at the box office! The movie started strong on its opening day and kept gaining momentum throughout the weekend. By Sunday, it was unstoppable, raking in a whopping Rs. 20.74 crores. This is a surprising success for a supernatural psychological thriller, a genre that hasn’t typically seen such high opening numbers. Shaitaan is the first film in this genre to achieve such a feat.
The movie’s strong performance suggests there’s more to come. The momentum is expected to continue even on weekdays, with another jump likely in the second weekend. Even a moderate collection of Rs. 6-7 crores on Monday would be a good sign.
So far, Shaitaan has collected a total of Rs. 55.13 crores. While it missed out on a spot in the Top 5 weekend openers for Ajay Devgn, it secured a respectable position at number 6.
Shaitaan has effortlessly surpassed the opening weekend collections of previous Ajay Devgn films like Baadshaho (Rs. 43.30 crores) and Bol Bachchan (Rs. 43.10 crores). It’s just behind Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (Rs. 61.93 crores) at number 5. To reach the top, Shaitaan needs to beat films like Total Dhamaal (Rs. 62.40 crores) and Drishyam 2 (Rs. 64.14 crores). The biggest openers for Ajay Devgn, Golmaal Again (Rs. 87.60 crores) and Singham Returns (Rs. 78 crores), are still a long way ahead.

The key for Shaitaan now is to maintain strong performance throughout the weekdays. This will help it reach the coveted Rs. 100 crore mark much faster.
