The Budget Of India’s Most Expensive Ott Web Series Is More Than That Of Dunki, Animal & Gadar 2; And It’s Not Sacred Games, Made In Heaven Or Farzi

The Rise of OTT and India’s Most Expensive Web Series

For a long time, movies were the king of entertainment in India. But things are changing! With the rise of streaming services (OTT) and television still being popular, producers now have more options for where to invest their money. This has led to some big budgets for web series, some of which have become successful both in India and around the world.

The most expensive OTT web series in India is Rudra: The Edge of Darkness, which cost a whopping 200 crore rupees to make! That’s more money than Shah Rukh Khan’s latest film Dunki and Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal.

A Closer Look at Rudra

Rudra stars Ajay Devgn and is a psychological crime thriller based on the British series Luther. It was made for Disney+ Hotstar and also stars Raashii Khanna, Esha Deol, Atul Kulkarni, Ashwini Kalsekar, Tarun Gahlot, and Ashish Vidyarthi.

Devgn’s salary was a big part of the reason why Rudra was so expensive. He reportedly earned 125 crore rupees for the six episodes, which is about 21 crore rupees per episode! This makes him the highest-paid Indian star on OTT right now.

How Does Rudra Compare to Other Web Series?

Saif Ali Khan’s Sacred Games was also a popular web series, but it cost much less than Rudra. Season 1 had a budget of 40 crore rupees, and Season 2 cost 100 crore rupees.

Other web series with high budgets include Made in Heaven (100 crore rupees), 24 (100 crore rupees), Farzi (less than Rudra), The Family Man (less than Rudra), and Mirzapur (less than Rudra).

Rudra vs. Bollywood Movies

It’s not just web series that Rudra’s budget is bigger than. Many big-budget Bollywood movies don’t even come close! Dunki cost 120 crore rupees to make, Animal cost 100 crore rupees, and even Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 only cost 60 crore rupees.

What Does This Mean for the Future of OTT in India?

The fact that Rudra was such a success shows that there is a big market for high-quality web series in India. This is likely to encourage producers to invest even more money in web series in the future. This could lead to even more amazing shows being made in India.

So, there you have it! The story of Rudra: The Edge of Darkness, India’s most expensive OTT web series. It’s a sign of the changing times in the Indian entertainment industry, and it’s exciting to see what the future holds for OTT in India.
