Nani Admits Miscasting in ‘Ante Sundaraniki’, Says ‘Film Wasn’t Seen in the Right…’
August 27, 2024In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Nani discussed his earlier comment about potentially being the wrong choice for the film Ante Sundaraniki. He explained that while he didn’t say it exactly like that, he acknowledged that he comes with a certain level of audience expectation due to his previous roles. He felt that the film, with its complex storyline and layered characters, needed someone who was more unassuming and didn’t bring preconceived notions from the audience.
Nani believes that because the audience had certain expectations about his performance, particularly in a comedy film, it might have affected how they perceived the film’s emotional and dramatic elements. He stressed that he doesn’t regret playing the role of Sundar and still enjoys seeing himself in that character. However, he thinks the story, especially the nuances of the childhood portions, could have been better appreciated with actors who blended more seamlessly into their roles without any prior expectations from the audience.
Ante Sundaraniki is a romantic comedy about an interfaith couple, Sundar and Leela, navigating the challenges of convincing their families to accept their marriage. The film marked Nazriya Nazim Fahadh’s Telugu debut and also starred Naresh, Rohini, Nadhiya, and others.
Nani’s next project is Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, a vigilante film directed by Vivek Athreya. The film will release on August 29, 2024, and also stars SJ Surya and Priyanka Arul Mohan in prominent roles.
