Kamal Haasan’s Indian 3 To Release Directly On Netflix After Box Office Failure Of Its Prequel: Report

Indian 3 to Release Directly on OTT

Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, the sequel to the 1996 hit film Indian, faced a disappointing box office performance in July. Despite its star-studded cast and anticipation, the film received mixed reviews from audiences and critics.

According to a report by Deccan Herald, the third part of the franchise, Indian 3, may skip theatrical release and premiere directly on Netflix. This decision is likely due to the financial losses incurred by Indian 2. However, an official announcement from the makers is yet to be made.

Indian 2 revolves around a young group of people seeking justice for widespread corruption in the country by seeking help from a lethal vigilante. The film stars Kamal Haasan, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Nedumudi Venu, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, and Rajinikanth. It was released in theaters on July 12 in multiple languages and grossed Rs 81.32 crore net in India and Rs 148.83 crore worldwide.

Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan will next be seen in Amaran, a Tamil biographical action drama directed by Rajkumar Periasamy. The film also features Sivakarthikeyan, Sai Pallavi, Bhuvan Arora, Rahul Bose, Shreekumar, Suresh Chakravarthy, and Lallu Prasath. Amaran is scheduled for theatrical release on October 31, 2024.

Haasan will also appear in Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life, which features Aishwarya Lekshmi, Trisha Krishnan, Jayam Ravi, Pankaj Tripathi, Joju George, and Abhirami. Thug Life is also slated for theatrical release this year.
