Kalki 2898 AD OTT Release Date Update: Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan’s Telugu Sci-Fi Movie Likely To Arrive Online On This Day

Kalki 2898 AD OTT Release Date: Prime Video on August 23rd
The much-celebrated sci-fi epic, “Kalki 2898 AD,” is set to hit Prime Video on August 23rd, according to reports. The film, starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan, has been a massive success in theaters, and fans have been eagerly awaiting its OTT release.

Director’s Take on Comparisons:

Director Nag Ashwin addressed comparisons to other films in an interview with OTTplay, acknowledging the influence of iconic films like “Star Wars” while emphasizing the uniqueness of “Kalki 2898 AD.” He stated, “We are all exposed to so much content in terms of production design, CGI and other aspects. Then there’s also the subconscious influence; for me, the whole rusted and aged aesthetic is something that I would have consciously or subconsciously borrowed from Star Wars for sure.”

He further added, “Everything else is just the same anywhere. For instance, if you think of a dystopian place without water, you are going to have a deserted landscape. If that similar desert is there in other movies, some people don’t get over that. But those comparisons are very superficial.”

About the Film:

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, “Kalki 2898 AD” follows the journey of individuals trying to protect the unborn child of SUM-80, a lab subject, from a formidable antagonist played by Kamal Haasan. The film boasts a stellar cast including Disha Patani, Brahmanandam, Saswata Chatterjee, Rajendra Prasad, Shobhana, Pasupathy, and Anna Ben.

Prabhas on “Kalki 2898 AD”:

In an interview with Deadline, Prabhas expressed his excitement about the film’s international appeal. He said, “The whole film is made for international (audiences). That’s why it’s the highest budget and we’ve got the best actors in the country.” He also shared his thoughts on being called a “pan-Indian” star, stating, “That doesn’t really affect me but it’s a good feeling to think that people around the country like me now.”

Conclusion:

With a reported budget of Rs 600 crore, “Kalki 2898 AD” is said to be the most expensive Indian movie to date. If you missed it in theaters or want to relive the experience, mark your calendars for August 23rd and catch it on Prime Video!
