BLACKPINK’s Lisa And BTS Jungkook Dominate MTV VMAs 2024 Nomination In Kpop Categories; Stray Kids Also Receive Nod
The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) is showcasing the huge rise in popularity of Korean pop music (K-pop). Many K-pop songs have become famous worldwide and some have been nominated for awards at the VMAs.
Jungkook, a member of the K-pop group BTS, and BLACKPINK’s Lisa, both got nominated for awards for their latest songs. Jungkook’s “Seven” was nominated for Best Collaboration and Best K-pop. Lisa’s “Rockstar” got four nominations: Best K-pop, Best Editing, Best Choreography, and Best Art Direction. Two other K-pop groups, Stray Kids and Tomorrow X Together, also got nominated for Best K-pop.
Besides these nominations, both artists are busy with other projects. Jungkook recently released his solo album “Golden” and will soon release a documentary film called “I Am Still” about his journey as a solo artist. Lisa is getting ready to make her acting debut in the TV show “The White Lotus Season 3” and is working on new solo music with RCA Records.
Lisa’s “Rockstar” is already doing well, reaching the top spot on the Billboard Global chart (excluding the United States). This shows the global appeal of K-pop and the success of these artists.
