BLACKPINK Jennie Officially Acquires Trademark For Her English Name Jennie Ruby Jane: Report
BLACKPINK’s Jennie has officially acquired the trademark for her English name, Jennie Ruby Jane, in South Korea. This development comes after a lengthy application process that began in January 2023. According to a report from Star News on August 2, 2024, the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) has completed the examination and registration process, making Jennie the rightful owner of the trademark.
Jennie, whose full Korean name is Kim Jennie, revealed her English name during her childhood in New Zealand. In June 2023, she made her acting debut in the HBO series The Idol, where she chose to use her English name rather than her stage name. She has also adopted Jennie Ruby Jane for her presence on Instagram and YouTube.

In April, reports surfaced that she had also filed for the trademark in the United States, sparking speculation among fans about a potential solo comeback. As news of her trademark acquisition spread, many BLINKs eagerly discussed the possibility of her releasing new music under this name.
On the professional front, Jennie hinted at her first solo album during her appearance at the 2024 Met Gala. Following the expiration of her contract with YG Entertainment, she established her own agency, ODD ATELIER (OA), and her upcoming music will be her debut release under this label. Recently, Jennie made headlines for a controversy surrounding her indoor vaping incident, which led to criticism from fans and the public. She later issued an apology through her agency, but the situation took time to settle.
