Hiranyakashyap announces in a gathering that he’s going to sacrifice his own son to prove his power. He claims to be their god. Sukhracharya praises his sacrifice, and everyone else joins in. Prahlad, Hiranyakashyap’s son, chants prayers to Narayan (a god). Kayadu, Prahlad’s mother, remembers Prahlad saying Narayan will save them. She rushes away, worried.

Holika, Prahlad’s aunt, tells him it’s not too late. She wants him to stop praying to Narayan and accept his father as his god. Kayadu begs Narayan to save her son. She admits she never fully believed in him, but her son is a devoted follower. She says Prahlad is her only hope. Lakshmi, Narayan’s wife, says a mother is pleading for her son’s life.

Lakshmi tells Narayan he can’t ignore a mother’s love. Narayan says he can’t do anything. Lakshmi argues that they trust him, and it’s his duty to protect his followers. Prahlad continues chanting prayers. Holika says he’ll stop soon.

Lakshmi asks Narayan why he doesn’t kill Hiranyakashyap. He says Hiranyakashyap’s evil deeds are increasing, and he’ll be punished, but it’s not time for him to die yet. Lakshmi asks Narayan to save Prahlad from the fire. Narayan explains that he can’t because of a boon given to Holika by another god (Brahman). The fire won’t burn her, and they can’t separate Prahlad from her lap until the fire goes out. He can’t break the rules. Lakshmi decides to go and protect Prahlad herself.

Brahman and Sarswati arrive. Brahman explains the situation to Lakshmi, but she doesn’t care and wants to save Prahlad. Narayan stops her, saying she’ll be humiliated. Lakshmi says it’s her duty to save her son and she doesn’t care about humiliation. She carried him when he was born and can’t let him down. Narayan challenges her to a fight, saying she can’t leave until she wins. Lakshmi accepts. They start fighting, causing reactions throughout the universe.

Hiranyakashyap boasts that nothing can save Prahlad. Suddenly, Holika’s scarf flies off, and she feels herself burning. The scarf protects Prahlad. Holika burns in the fire. Narayan stops fighting with Lakshmi. Naradar arrives and says it was his plan. He knew the universe would protect Prahlad. Narayan explains his plan to Lakshmi, and she apologizes for misunderstanding him.

Brahman warns Hiranyakashyap that this is the consequence of using the boon for evil. Kayadu is overjoyed to see her son alive. Hiranyakashyap challenges Prahlad to call on Narayan to fight him. Lakshmi tells Narayan that Hiranyakashyap is trying to use Prahlad to fight him.
