Rags to Riches: This ‘Taarak Mehta…’ Actor Hardly Earned Rs 50 Per Day; He Now Owns Two Restaurants In Posh Areas of Mumbai. Hard Work Truly Paid Off!

Sharad Sankla, popularly known as Abdul Bhai from ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ has been a part of entertainment industry for more than 25 years. But guess what; in spite of doing more than 35-40 Hindi films, dozens of TV shows and advertisements, he struggled for recognition.

In fact, Sharad had a tough time in surviving in the industry. Until, ‘Taarak Mehta…’ happened to him.

“I first faced the camera for the film titled Vansh in 1990. It was a very small role where I played the character of Charlie Chaplin in it. I was paid 50 rupees per day. Later on, I did many big films including Khiladi, Baazigar and Baadshah. And still, I was jobless for eight years,” Sharad Sankla said to Dailybhaskar.com.
