Varun Dhawan’s Stree 2 Cameo: A Whopping Paycheck for a Brief Appearance!

Varun Dhawan, who has been in the film industry for over a decade, recently made a thrilling cameo in “Stree 2” as Bhediya. The movie brought back the original gang, including Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurrana. While we previously reported on the cast’s salaries, Varun’s payment wasn’t revealed until after the film’s release.

“Stree 2,” released in 2024, is the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster that launched Maddock’s horror-comedy universe. The first film was based on the urban legend of “Nale Ba,” while the sequel revolves around a headless ghost. The movie is enjoying great success at the box office and is expected to be a massive hit.

Varun Dhawan became part of Maddock’s Supernatural Universe with “Bhediya” in 2022, also directed by Amar Kaushik. The film, inspired by Arunachal Pradesh folklore, features Varun as Bhaskar, a shape-shifting werewolf protecting the jungle. Taking cues from Hollywood superhero movies, Bhaskar appears in “Stree 2” to help Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s characters fight the headless ghost. The link between these two films is Abhishek Banerjee’s character, Jana, who is Bhaskar’s cousin and Vicky’s friend. Jana was first introduced in the original “Stree.”

So, How Much Did Varun Dhawan Earn for His Stree 2 Cameo?

Pankaj Tripathi, a versatile actor, has seen his popularity soar recently. While Varun might be more popular among the masses due to his films, Tripathi is also highly regarded. It was reported that Pankaj received ₹3 crores for his full-fledged role in “Stree 2,” half of what Rajkummar Rao earned (₹6 crores).

Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan, despite his brief cameo, reportedly took home a whopping ₹2 crores! This is particularly noteworthy considering that his usual fee per film is around ₹25 crores, according to Deccan Chronicle. In contrast, Pankaj Tripathi generally charges ₹2-3 crores per movie.

“Stree 2,” starring Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurrana, hit theaters on August 15th.
