Shatrughan Sinha Bashes People For Calling Sonakshi Sinha’s Marriage ‘Love Jihad’: ‘My Daughter Has Done Nothing Illegal Or…’
June 25, 2024Shatrughan Sinha recently broke his silence on the protest against his daughter Sonakshi Sinha’s wedding. The actress got married to her long-term boyfriend and actor Zaheer Iqbal in an intimate wedding ceremony in Mumbai on 23rd June. As their wedding pictures went viral on social media, a protest was held in Shatrughan Sinha’s hometown Patna in Bihar. The protest was organised by the Hindu Shiv Bhawani Sena, who called the interfaith marriage ‘love jihad’ and asked Sonakshi not to visit Patna ever in her life.
Now, the actor bashed the trollers and protesters for criticising Sonakshi’s interfaith marriage. In an interview with Times Now, Shatrughan said “Anand Bakshi saab has written about such professional protestors, ‘Kucch to log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna. To this I would like to add, ‘Kehne waale agar bekar, bekaam-kaaj ke ho to kehna hi kaam ban jata hai (For unemployed people, this is all the work they have).’ My daughter has done nothing illegal or unconstitutional.”
“A wedding is a very personal decision between two people; no one has the right to interfere or comment. To all the protestors I say – go, get a life. Do something useful with your life. Aur kucch nahi kehna (I have nothing else to say),” he added.
The couple sharing the pictures on Instagram, wrote “On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017) in each others eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs… leading up to this moment… where with the blessings of both our families and both our gods… we are now man and wife. Here’s to love, hope and all things beautiful with each other, from now until forever ❤️ Sonakshi ♾️ Zaheer 23.06.2024.”
Soon after receiving hate comments on Instagram, they turned off the comment sections.
