Mithun Chakraborty receives Dadasaheb Phalke Award: Veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty has been honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 70th National Film Awards Ceremony, a testament to his remarkable contributions to Indian cinema. Despite nursing a fractured hand, Mithun made it a point to personally receive the award. The ceremony, held at Vigyan Bhavan, was presided over by the honourable President of India, Droupadi Murmu, who presented the award to the actor.
As Mithun Chakraborty walked onto the stage, he was visibly emotional, overcome by the nostalgia of watching his showreel. The actor’s acceptance of the award was met with applause, and he graciously posed for a photo with President Murmu. The 70th National Film Awards ceremony took place today, October 8, 2024, at New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhavan. President Droupadi Murmu honoured the outstanding artists and technicians in Indian cinema. This prestigious event recognised the best films of 2022 across various regions and languages in India. Karan Johar, Rishabh Shetty, Nithya Menen, Neena Gupta, Manoj Bajpayee and more received the prestigious awards.
Other stylish appearances were made by Gulmohar actor Manoj Bajpayee and music legend AR Rahman. Rishab Shetty, the star of the critically acclaimed Kantara, also graced the event, opting for traditional South Indian attire as he walked the red carpet alongside his wife. The evening marked a triumphant moment for Shetty, who received the Best Actor award for his powerful performance in Kantara, while the film itself was honoured with the coveted Best Feature Film award.
