Nana Patekar On Why He And Anil Kapoor Refused To Do Welcome 3: ‘Kahaani Nahi Thi…’

‘Welcome’ is one of the most popular Hindi comedy movies and has developed into a cult classic over the years. From stellar performances to the funniest dialogues, the audience has grown to love ‘Welcome’ more and more over the years. The movie will be back with its third instalment titled ‘Welcome To The Jungle’. Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor played the iconic characters Uday and Majnu respectively but have refused to star in ‘Welcome To The Jungle’.

In a recent interview with The Lallantop, Nana Patekar revealed why he and Anil Kapoor refused to star in ‘Welcome To The Jungle’. He said, “But it wouldn’t have been complete if Anil and I weren’t doing it together. If Anil and I are there, then only Welcome is possible. If you remove me, then he alone can’t make Welcome and vice-versa.”

He added, “They did approach us. We said no. Kahani nahi hai. Utna mazza nahi aaya. (There’s no story. We didn’t enjoy it as much.)”

Directed by Ahmed Khan, ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ stars Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi and Paresh Rawal in the lead roles. The new additions to the star cast are – Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Mika Singh, Rahul Dev, Mukesh Tiwari, Sharib Hashmi, Inaamulhaq, Zakir Hussain, Yashpal Sharma, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani and Vrihi Kodvara.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Arshad Warsi talked about what the audience can expect from ‘Welcome 3’. “The scale of Welcome 3: the cost, the climax, is unreal. It is an insanely larger-than-life theatrical film which I will be a part of. It has me, Akshay Kumar, Sanju (Sanjay Dutt), Paresh Rawal and lots of other people,” he said.

‘Welcome To The Jungle’ is scheduled to release in theatres on December 20, 2024.
