Mrunal Thakur, a popular actress, recently spoke about her short appearance in the science fiction movie Kalki 2898 AD, one of the biggest movies of the year. In the film directed by Nag Ashwin, Mrunal plays a woman who is about to have a baby.
Kalki 2898 AD is a mix of action and science fiction. It also features some well-known actors in short roles, including Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, famous directors SS Rajamouli and Ram Gopal Varma.
Mrunal said that she had already worked with the people who produced the movie (Aswani Dutt, Swapna Dutt, and Priyanka Dutt) on a different film called Sita Ramam. That movie did well, so when they asked her to be in Kalki 2898 AD, she immediately agreed.
“When they asked me to be in Kalki, I didn’t even hesitate to say yes,” Mrunal explained. “I trust the producers Aswani Dutt, Swapna Dutt, and Priyanka a lot. Because we worked well together on Sita Ramam, this was an easy decision. Also, I knew I had to be a part of such a huge project and work with such a creative director.”
The main actors in Kalki 2898 AD are some of the biggest stars in India. Amitabh Bachchan plays Ashwatthama, Prabhas plays Bhairava, Kamal Haasan plays Supreme Yaskin, Deepika Padukone plays Sumathi, Disha Patani plays Roxie, Saswata Chatterjee plays Commander Manas, and Keerthy Suresh plays Bujji. The movie also features Tamil actor Krishnakumar (known as KK) as Lord Krishna, and Arjun Das does the voice acting for a character.
The movie came out in theaters on June 27th in many different languages. It cost a massive 600 Crore rupees (about $77 million) to make. Reviews for the movie have been mixed. People generally liked the second half, but many thought the first half was slow.
According to news reports, two popular streaming services have bought the rights to show Kalki 2898 AD online. Filmibeat says that Netflix will stream the Hindi version starring Prabhas, and Amazon Prime Video will stream the versions in South Indian languages.
Mrunal Thakur’s most recent movie before Kalki 2898 AD was The Family Star. That movie is in Telugu and is currently available to watch on Prime Video. The other actors in The Family Star include Vijay Deverakonda, Divyansha Kaushik, Vasuki Anand, and Marissa Rose Gordon.
