‘Manisha Koirala Is Dead’: Throwback To When HeeraMandi Actor Faked Her Death In 1995

In 1995, to promote his movie “Criminal,” filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt did something shocking! He created a fake newspaper ad saying actress Manisha Koirala had died. This was inspired by the American movie “The Fugitive.”

This wasn’t the first time someone faked their death for publicity. Recently, actress Poonam Pandey did the same. But Bhatt’s stunt was much earlier, in 1995. His movie “Criminal” starred Manisha Koirala, and her character actually dies in the film. Bhatt used this plot point to create a stir with the fake news ad.

The movie “Criminal” came out in two versions: Telugu in 1994 and Hindi in 1995. While the ad was shocking, it’s important to remember it was all fake – a publicity stunt for the movie.
