Katrina Kaif On Being Called ‘Just A Glamour Doll’ In Tiger 3: ‘It Was So Nuanced…’

Riding the “Tiger 3” wave, Katrina Kaif dives into thriller territory with “Merry Christmas.” She recently addressed critiques of Zoya’s “glamorous doll” image, asserting the character’s hidden strength as one of her most empowering portrayals.

Katrina said, “I see things a little different perhaps. I actually think the character of Zoya is one of the strongest characters I’ve ever had the chance to play. Especially in Tiger 3, it was so nuanced and so well-written by Maneesh Sharma. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to play that character.”

Katrina earlier talked about the possible spin-off of her character. While speaking to Pinkvilla about the stand-alone film on Zoya, Katrina said, “I can’t speak of it. Mum is the word. Secrets.”

Directed by Maneesh Sharma, ‘Tiger 3’ also stars Emraan Hashmi in the lead role with Revathi, Ashutosh Rana, Ranvir Shorey, Riddhi Dogra and Vishal Jethwa in supporting roles.

On the work front, Katrina will next star in Sriram Raghavan’s thriller ‘Merry Christmas’ along with Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role.

At the Red Sea Film Festival, Katrina talked about working with Vijay Sethupathi. She said, “It was always to work with him (Vijay Sethupathi) and I got the opportunity in Merry Christmas to work with it. It was phenomenal, by far the most difficult film I have ever done. Definitely, the character took a lot out of me but the experience was he really challenges you as an actor. Also, it’s a bilingual film. We shot the film in Hindi and Tamil.”

She added, “In Tamil version, I have actually spoken in Tamil so it was two takes for whatever you were doing and that was really challenging but exciting. My co-star Vijay Sethupathi is so phenomenal. When we would do the Hindi take, he would be fantastic but when we would do the Tamil take, there would be a different actor.”
