The Name Kalki and the Movie’s Story
The word “Kalki” comes from a Sanskrit word meaning “time,” particularly referring to the dark Kali Yuga period. Some people think the original name might have been “Karki,” which could be linked to the white color of the horse Kalki rides.
In Kalki 2898 AD, Amitabh Bachchan’s character tells Deepika Padukone that she’s carrying a very special child. The story takes place in the city of Kashi, which is ruled by the evil Yaskin, played by Kamal Haasan. Deepika’s character, Sumathi, is pregnant with a child who some believe will challenge the evil forces controlling their world.
