Kalki 2898 AD Advance Booking Day 1: Prabhas-Starrer Set To Dominate The Box Office, Sells 2 Lakh Tickets So Far
The much-anticipated movie Kalki 2898 AD is finally hitting theaters on June 27th, 2024! This sci-fi film features some of India’s biggest stars: Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan. Even before the release, the movie is creating a buzz with strong ticket sales.
Tickets went on sale early, and according to a report, fans have already purchased over 8 crore rupees worth of tickets for opening day! This shows just how excited people are to see this movie.
Here’s a breakdown of how ticket sales are doing across different languages:
- Telugu: This is clearly the most popular language for the movie so far. Over 2.65 lakh tickets have been sold for Telugu screenings, bringing in a whopping 7.7 crore rupees! This includes tickets for 3D, 2D, and IMAX 3D formats.
- Hindi: While not quite as strong as Telugu, the Hindi version is still doing well. Over 13,800 tickets have been sold for Hindi screenings, earning over 43 lakh rupees. Similar to Telugu, these sales include tickets for 3D, 2D, and IMAX 3D formats.
- Tamil: The Tamil version has also seen some ticket sales, with over 2,900 tickets sold and a gross earning of over 5 lakh rupees. These sales are for both 3D and 2D screenings.
- Kannada and Malayalam: Ticket sales for these languages are much lower. For Kannada, only about 100 tickets have been sold, earning a little over 23,000 rupees. In Malayalam, just one ticket has been sold so far. It’s important to note that these sales figures are only for 2D screenings in Kannada and Malayalam.
Overall, considering all languages and formats, Kalki 2898 AD has sold a staggering total of over 2.8 lakh tickets for over 3,700 shows across India! This has resulted in a gross earning of over 8.2 crore rupees.
The movie’s journey to the big screen wasn’t always smooth sailing. It was first announced in 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic caused a year-long delay. Filming finally began in July 2021 and continued on and off for three years, wrapping up in March 2024. With a massive budget of 600 crore rupees (which is over 72 million US dollars!), Kalki is one of the most expensive films ever made in India.
The film boasts a talented team behind the scenes as well. Santhosh Narayanan composed the music, Djordje Stojiljkovic handled the cinematography, Nitin Zihani Choudhary designed the production sets, and Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao edited the film.
Originally planned for a May release, the date was pushed back due to the Indian general election. Now, Kalki 2898 AD is set for a worldwide release on June 27th, 2024! Will it be worth the wait? Only time will tell, but with its star power, impressive visuals, and strong pre-sales, Kalki is definitely a movie to watch out for!
