Janhvi Kapoor Vows To Never Cut Her Hair For A Role; Here’s Why
Janhvi Kapoor has made a firm decision: she will never go bald for any role, no matter how significant the opportunity. This vow is rooted in the love and pride her late mother, the legendary actress Sridevi, had for Janhvi’s hair. In a recent interview, Janhvi reminisced about a moment during the filming of her debut movie Dhadak. She had cut her hair short, which led to a stern reprimand from Sridevi. “My mom yelled at me a lot and said, ‘How could you? Do not cut your hair for any role.’ She was very proud of my hair,” Janhvi shared. She also recalled how Sridevi regularly massaged her scalp with oil, emphasizing the importance of maintaining her luscious locks.
Appearing on IMDb’s exclusive segment Ask Each Other Anything alongside her co-star Roshan Mathew, Janhvi was asked what she would never do for a role. Her answer was clear: she would not go bald. “They can just put a bald cap on or use VFX. I have dislocated my shoulder, I’ve bled, broken bones, put myself through all kinds of trauma and torture, but going bald is something I refuse to do,” Janhvi asserted.
She also mentioned a conflict during the filming of her upcoming movie Ulajh. “Even for my character in Ulajh, Sudhanshu [Saria] wanted me to cut my hair short and it was my biggest fight with him,” Janhvi revealed.
Janhvi’s next film, Ulajh, sees her playing the role of Suhana, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer. Suhana is depicted as the youngest Deputy High Commissioner, who must navigate a complex mission in London while facing intense scrutiny. The film addresses issues of nepotism and societal expectations head-on.
