Imran Khan Reveals Reason Behind Divorce With Avantika Malik; Says ‘I Was Dealing With Lot Of Baggages And Internal Struggle’
May 29, 2024Bollywood actor Imran Khan, who was married to Avantika Malik for eight years, recently broke silence on his separation. Mere Brother Ki Dulhan actor shared that he was dealing with a lot of baggage and was going through an internal struggle. He also stated that they were not in a place to make each other happy or stronger.
In an interview with India Today, Imran said, “Without going too much into that part, because I’m hesitant to add a lot of fuel to the gossip fire, but as I was dealing with all of this baggage and all my internal struggle, I did find that my marriage and my relationship were not helping any of that.”
“In an ideal, healthy dynamic between two people, you are both making each other better, healthier, stronger, and supporting each other to be the healthiest, best, strongest version. We were not in that place,” he added.
Imran married Avantika Malik in 2011 and are parents of a daughter Imara. They got separated in 2019 due to some undisclosed reasons.
Now, the actor is currently dating actress Lekha Washington and he confirmed the news earlier this year. In an interview with Vogue India, he said “The speculation that I’m romantically involved with Lekha Washington is true. I’m divorced and have been separated since February 2019. Lekha and I grew close during the lockdown, a year and a half after I had been separated from Avantika and almost a year after she had separated from her partner, not husband, as it has been widely reported.”
“There’s this narrative of Lekha being a homewrecker, which infuriates me, because not only is it misogynistic but it also takes away my agency as an individual,” he added.
Imran Khan is rumoured to make his comeback in Bollywood. However, there is no official announcement yet. He worked in several movies like Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, Delhi Belly, I Hate Luv Storys, Katti Batti, Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara, Break Ke Baad, Luck to name a few.
