‘I am not doing anything wrong….’: Triptii Dimri Reacts to Criticism on Intimate Scenes With Ranbir Kapoor in Animal

Triptii Dimri addressed the criticism she received for her intimate scenes with Ranbir Kapoor in their recently released film, Animal. Videos and photos from the film featuring the actors in a bold intimate scene have been widely shared online, sparking controversy among some viewers. In a recent interview, Dimri admitted that the criticism has taken her aback, but she remains confident in her performance and believes she simply fulfilled the demands of the role.

“The scene is getting a lot of criticism as well. It did disturb me initially because I am someone who has hardly faced criticism, very little with my first few films. I was taken aback but I sat myself down and I thought about it. The day I decided to become an actor, nobody forced me to become an actor, I wanted to do it because I found it exciting. As I started doing it, the characters that I was playing, it was healing a part of me and I started having fun, started finding joy in challenges and everything that was coming my way,” she told ETimes in an interview.

“That is how I want to go about with acting in life as well. As long as I am comfortable, as long as people around me on set are making me comfortable, as long as I know what I am doing is right, I am not doing anything wrong, I am going to do it. Because that is something I want for myself, as an actor and as a human being. That is something I want to experience,” she added.

Speaking about the scene, Triptii said, “More than the intimate scenes in Animal, the rape scene in Bulbbul was more challenging for me as a person. You’re just giving up and that is more difficult than finding the courage to do something. If I can overcome that, this is nothing in comparison to that.”

Breaking down the making of the scene, she said, “Literally four people on set — me, Ranbir, Sandeep and the video team. Every five minutes, they were asking me, ‘Are you okay? Is there something you want? Are you comfortable?’ So you know when people around you are giving you so much support, you don’t feel odd at all.”

Triptii is likely to return for the Animal’s sequel, Animal Park.
