Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is considered as one of the most beautiful women in the world and deservedly so. The winner of Miss World 1994, Aishwarya has managed to charm her way into everyone’s hearts.
Way back in 1999, when Aishwarya starred in blockbuster movies like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Taal with which she proved her acting prowess, there were many who considered her to be fake. In an interview with Simi Garewal, Aishwarya spoke about that in detail.
When Simi asked Aishwarya to reveal an honest confession, Aishwarya said, “I detest being called fake, I detest that. But I can’t seem to understand it. I understand this riding the wave of opinions which sort of changes with adulation, with success when it is faced that time and then time again But, I can’t seem to understand how people forget who or what they have encountered or are encountering. And when the reality is staring them in the face, they just would like to believe it’s unreal. That is unreal for me. I can’t seem to understand that.”
Known for her enigmatic beauty, Simi asked what was the downside of being beautiful. She said, “It wouldn’t be fair for me to say a downside, no. The vibes that life is given me because of God’s gift and my parents doing has been pretty good. I have had a good life. But the flipside, if I could put it lightly, people tend to think…I guess it’s the age-old thing that if you have got what is visible, you don’t have (points to her head laughing), anything within. Even when I got a first class the first year, it was liked ‘You know, you were in the list of the first class students’ (Simi: And isn’t that a surprise?) Yeah! That was exactly my response. I didn’t really say it out loud but believe you me, if looks could kill at that point in time, I think I was sending out darts big time. That really isn’t fair.”
Classy, as always!
