After weeks of speculation, Shah Rukh Khan has finally unveiled Dunki’s release date, cleverly avoiding a direct clash with Salaar by just one day. Fans had been eagerly awaiting the release date, with promotional materials only hinting at a Christmas release. While many assumed a December 22 release (the Friday before Christmas), Khan surprised everyone by revealing a December 21 release.

The official release date announcement was accompanied by a captivating trailer that dropped on Tuesday morning. “Join Hardy and his four ‘ullu da patthas’ as they embark on an extraordinary adventure filled with love, friendship, and nostalgia. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, and Vicky Kaushal, Dunki is directed by the masterful Rajkumar Hirani and presented by Jio Studios, Red Chillies Entertainment, and Rajkumar Hirani Films. Mark your calendars for a worldwide release on December 21st, 2023. See you at the movies!” proclaimed the trailer’s YouTube description.

The much-anticipated Dunki, starring Shah Rukh Khan, will hit theaters on December 21, 2023, just a day ahead of Prabhas’ action-packed Salaar. This strategic move by Dunki’s makers will give the film an extra day to establish its presence before the box office showdown with Salaar on December 22.

Prashant Neel, the director of Salaar, expressed his reluctance about the clash, stating that it’s an “unpleasant situation” for both films. However, he acknowledged the logistical decisions made by the respective productions.

“We are not fearful of the fact that another movie as big as that, the combination that it has. Rajkumari Hirani sir is one of my favourite directors. I am definitely sold on going and watching ‘Dunki’. So I do understand that that’s a very big movie that is coming out. But the biggest fear that we have during making a movie is whether the audience is going to like it,” he added.

The Dunki vs Salaar clash will be the second big clash of the month. Last weekend, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal and Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur had clashed at the box office.
