Animal’s Box Office Frenzy and Potential OTT Clash with Fighter

Ranbir Kapoor’s latest film, Animal, has been a box office success, earning over Rs 563 crore globally. The action-packed thriller, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is now gearing up for an OTT release on Netflix, although the official date hasn’t been confirmed.

Animal initially faced competition at the box office from Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur. However, its potential OTT release could see it clashing with another highly anticipated film: Siddharth Anand’s Fighter, scheduled for release on January 25, 2024. This would set up a showdown between Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, and Fighter, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone.

Interestingly, Animal’s OTT release could coincide with the 15th anniversary of Deepika Padukone’s debut film, Om Shanti Om. Back in 2007, Ranbir Kapoor’s debut film, Saawariya, clashed with Om Shanti Om at the box office. Now, history seems to be repeating itself, albeit on the streaming platform.

Animal has received critical acclaim for Ranbir Kapoor’s powerful performance. The film also stars South Indian actress Rashmika Mandanna, along with Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor in supporting roles.

Fighter, on the other hand, marks the start of an aerial action franchise. The film boasts a star-studded cast and has generated immense anticipation since its announcement in 2021.

It remains to be seen whether Animal and Fighter will indeed clash on OTT platforms. However, one thing is certain: fans of both films are in for a treat in January 2024.
