Love Story Of Miss India Neha Kapur And ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Kunal Nayyar

Kunal Nayyar, the British-Indian actor is also popular face as Raj Koothrappali in Emmy-winning US sitcom ‘The Big Bang Theory’. He was listed by Forbes as the world’s third-highest-paid TV actor in 2015 and 2018. This famous actor was born on 30 April 1981, in Hounslow, London. He was a Punjabi by the origin and when he was 4 years old he and his family relocated to India and he grew up in New Delhi.

Neha Kapoor is an Indian model and actress, she won Femina Miss India in 2006 and represented India at the Miss Universe pageant that year.

The initial meet up

The duo had first met in the year 2008 on the launch of a newly opened bar. Neha Kapoor’s friends asked her to meet Kunal saying that he just came from America. Whereas Kunal Nayyar’s friend had said to him that she is the ex-Miss India to which he had jokingly reacted saying why is he not introduced to the current Miss India. When Kunal first met the 5’10” brunette he had offered her a drink. He initially just wanted a causal acquaintance but was charmed by Neha and started liking her. Kunal’s first impression of Neha was not surprising. He said: “I thought, “Wow, she’s hot.” I wanted to hook up with her, to be honest. And then, she was so tall… I said, ‘Hey, sit down, I’ll buy you a drink.’ And that was it.”

Cupid struck

For Kunal, it was love at first sight. He was clean bowled by Neha’s beauty. Since they both originated from Delhi they connected instantly and there was an instant spark between them. They felt an intoxicating rush on feel-good chemicals.

He liked the feeling of calmness in Neha’s company felt very secure in her company. While Neha was attracted by the magnetic and humorous persona of Kunal.

Kunal said about his first meeting with the Femina Miss India Universe 2006.

“I was overcome by this feeling of calmness. I just felt so sure and so comfortable. Not even poetry could explain how I felt about this woman,”

Initially, he and Neha spoke for around 3 hours in the bar. Later they hanged out every day during Kunal’s stay in Delhi for 9 days. They were painting the town pink with their love.

Marriage

At the end of his Kunal’s tour in India, he was sure that his feeling is more than an infatuation and he wanted to take their relationship to marriage. He had asked Neha to accompany him to LA to which she agreed. The couple tied the knot in Delhi on December 22, 2011.

It was a typical big fat Indian wedding for them which was organized with the consent of both of their parents. It was a 6 days ritual with different ceremonies and celebrations ranging from Henna festival, cocktail festival, the actual wedding, etc. Kunal also came as a traditional Dulha riding a white horse. The ceremony had many eminent persons in their invitee list. The ceremony was carried out with huge pomp and show. Kunal appeared on “The Ellen Degeneres Show,” and remembering the lavish affair he said,

“They take six days. They can take seven, I think we ran out of money. One day is the henna festival, one day is the cocktail festival, one day is the actual wedding, then the reception. I just wish I could go back to my wedding as a guest.”

In his interview to Vogue, Kunal said that he was mesmerised by Neha’s beauty on their marriage day. This actor said,

“My favourite moment was seeing Neha for the first time that day. It still gives me the shivers to think of how beautiful she looked. There was something more than physical beauty at play when she was walking. It was spiritual, she was a vision. I will never forget that till the day I die.”

In the year 2014, the couple took a romantic trip to Hawaii. The love cultivated between them and grew over time.
