Meiyazhagan Continues Strong Box Office Performance

Karthik Sivakumar and Arvind Swamy’s Tamil film, Meiyazhagan, continues to impress at the box office, maintaining a strong momentum despite competition from Jr NTR’s Devara: Part 1. Released in Tamil and Telugu, the film has crossed the ₹10 crore mark within its first week.

According to box office reports, Meiyazhagan earned approximately ₹19.08 crore net in India during its first five days. On its sixth day, it is estimated to have earned around ₹4.75 crore, bringing the total to ₹23.83 crore. The film recorded an overall Tamil occupancy of 40.71% on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.   

About Meiyazhagan

Meiyazhagan tells the poignant story of a middle-aged man who returns to his hometown after twenty years away. The film stars Karthik Sivakumar as Meiyazhagan, Arvind Swamy as Arunmozhi Varman ‘Arul,’ Sri Divya as Nandini, and Saran Shakthi as a younger version of Arunmozhi. Other notable cast members include Rajkiran, Swathi Konde, Devadarshini, Karunakaran, Sriranjini, Ilavarasu, and V. Jayaprakash.

Produced on a budget of ₹35 crore, Meiyazhagan has garnered praise for its strong performances, compelling narrative, and exploration of nostalgia, family ties, and the complexities of homecoming. The film’s success can be attributed to its director C. Prem Kumar, known for his acclaimed film 96.
