Vashu Bhagnani Claims Netflix ‘Cheated’ Him, Latter Says It’s the Other Way Around: ‘Pooja Ent Owes Money’

Another Controversy for Vashu Bhagnani: Dispute with Netflix

Film producer Vashu Bhagnani is facing yet another controversy. He’s already been accused of not paying the director of his movie “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.” Now, he’s claiming that Netflix India “cheated” him and hasn’t paid him 47.37 Crore Rupees (about 5.7 million US dollars). However, Netflix denies this and says that it’s actually Bhagnani who owes them money.

Bhagnani’s Claims

Bhagnani told the Economic Times that Netflix tricked him and messed with the rights to three of his recent movies: “Hero No 1,” “Mission Raniganj,” and “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.” He filed a complaint against the Netflix-related company that handles content deals in India, along with another company and several of their executives. The police have started investigating and have asked some Netflix executives to come in for questioning.

Netflix’s Response

Netflix says Bhagnani’s claims are completely false. They said in a statement that it’s actually Pooja Entertainment (Bhagnani’s company) that owes them money. They’re working with the authorities to resolve the issue. Someone also mentioned that Netflix has filed its own legal case against Pooja Entertainment for not paying them.

Bhagnani’s Troubles This Year

This isn’t the first time Vashu Bhagnani has been in the news for the wrong reasons this year. After his movie “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” didn’t do well, people working on the film said he hadn’t paid them what they were owed. The director of the movie even said that Bhagnani still hasn’t paid him his fees of 7.30 Crore Rupees (about 880,000 US dollars).

In response, Vashu and Jackky Bhagnani (from Pooja Entertainment) filed a complaint against the director, Ali Abbas Zafar. They’re accusing him of taking money from the Abu Dhabi government (meant to help with filming costs) and using it for his own benefit. They say he did this through a fake company in Abu Dhabi and that he took 9.50 Crore Rupees (about 1.15 million US dollars). They’ve accused him of several serious crimes, including fraud, blackmail, and money laundering.

In short: Vashu Bhagnani is in a legal battle with Netflix over money. He says they owe him money, but Netflix says he owes them money. This is just the latest in a series of problems Bhagnani has faced this year, including accusations that he hasn’t paid people who worked on his movies.
