“Stree 2” hit the theaters worldwide on August 15, 2024, and has been a massive success, both critically and commercially. It’s already one of the top-grossing Indian films of the year, raking in a whopping Rs 199 crore. It’s now the sixth highest-grossing Indian film and the third highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024. Akshay Kumar’s cameo and the character of Sarkata have been creating quite a buzz. But, who exactly played Sarkata in Stree 2?

Who Plays Sarkata In Stree 2?

According to reports, Sarkata in Stree 2, like Munjya, is brought to life through visual effects. However, the legend of Sarkata originates from the folklore of Lansdowne, a beautiful town in Uttarakhand. The locals have been telling stories for generations about a headless ghost, believed to be the spirit of a British soldier named WH Wardell. Interestingly, in Lansdowne, Sarkata is seen as a kind spirit who protects the town.

About Stree 2

The 2024 Hindi-language film “Stree 2: Sarkate Ka Aatank” is a comedy-horror film directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Niren Bhatt. It’s produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios. This movie is the fifth part of the Maddock Supernatural Universe and the sequel to the 2018 hit “Stree.” The film has a fantastic cast, including Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana, promising a thrilling mix of horror and comedy.

Filming for the movie started on July 10, 2023, in Chanderi, with most of the main actors present except Pankaj Tripathi, who joined later. The second part of filming also took place in Chanderi in November 2023.

In December, a lively dance number featuring Tamannaah Bhatia, along with Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee, was shot in Bihar. Vijay Ganguly choreographed the dance, and they filmed in tough weather to make the scene look real. Later, in February 2024, Varun Dhawan joined the team to film his special appearance, playing his character from “Bhediya” again.
