Robert Downey Jr as Doctor Doom Announced: Robert Downey Jr is one of the most popular actors in the world and is best known for his role as superhero Iron Man in the Marvel movies. The actor last appeared as Iron Man in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in 2019 and his character’s death was heartbreaking for fans worldwide. Fans have been hoping that Robert Downey Jr might return to Marvel movies once again. At the recent San Diego Comic Con 2024 event, Marvel announced the new character named Doctor Doom and fans were surprised to Robert Downey Jr behind the mask.

The crowd went wild when it was revealed that Robert Downey Jr would be Doctor Doom.

For the unversed, Doctor Doom is one of the biggest villains in the Marvel Universe and is the enemy of the leader of the Fantastic Four, Reed Richards. He also gets into fights with other Marvel characters like Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Black Panther and X-Men. Joseph Culp, Julian McMahon and Toby Kebbell have earlier played Doctor Doom in the Fantastic Four movies.

In an earlier interview with Variety, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said that he is not going to touch Iron Man’s death in ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

He said, “We are going to keep that moment and not touch that moment again. We all worked very hard for many years to get to that, and we would never want to magically undo it in any way.”

While speaking to Esquire, Robert talked about whether he will reprise the role of Iron Man again or not. He added, “Happily. It’s too integral a part of my DNA. That role chose me. And look, I always say, Never, ever bet against Kevin Feige. It is a losing bet. He’s the house. He will always win.”

Robert Downey Jr recently won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his stellar performance in ‘Oppenheimer’. He was nominated alongside Robert De Niro, Ryan Gosling, Mark Ruffalo and Sterling K Brown. While accepting the award on stage, I’d like to thank my terrible childhood and the Academy — in that order.” He further thanked his wife Susan for constantly loving and supporting him and said, “She found me as a snarling rescue pet and loved me back to life. That’s why I’m here, thank you.”

He added, “Here’s my little secret, I needed this job more than it needed me. Chris (Nolan) knew it, Emma made sure she surrounded me with one of the great casts and crews of all time –Emily, Cillian, Matt Damon, Blunt—and I stand here before you a better man because of it.”
